RIDE ETIQUETTE

Safe riding is our priority, and while group rides are exciting, they require extra attention to safety. As you join us, you'll learn a lot, and our experienced riders are always here to help, especially with safety tips. Please don't hesitate to ask questions.

Safety Tips

  1. Road Hazards: Call out hazards like holes or cracks.

  2. Traffic Laws: Always follow the rules of the road.

  3. Braking: Avoid sudden stops; assume there's always someone behind you.

  4. Pacing: Keep pulls shorter and be mindful of the posted pace and abilities of other riders.

  5. Alignment: Ride handlebar-to-handlebar; avoid half-wheeling.

  6. Spacing: Keep a safe distance and avoid overlapping tires with the rider in front.

  7. Gaps: Close gaps gently after stops or turns.

  8. Pace Consistency: Avoid surging; aim for a smooth, steady pace.

  9. Team Spirit: Be an active, considerate member of the ride.

  10. Enjoyment: Have a great ride and connect with fellow cycling enthusiasts.

Gear Checklist

  1. Bike: Ensure it's in good condition with properly inflated tires.

  2. Safety Gear: Helmet and sunglasses are essential.

  3. Repair Kit: Include a flat repair kit, tube, and multitool.

  4. Essentials: Hydration (2 bottles recommended), snacks, sunscreen, money, ID or Road ID.

  5. Don't Forget: Front wheel and shoes.

  6. Headphones: Not allowed for safety.

  7. Navigation: Bike computer with GPS is recommended.

Pace Line Etiquette

Our rides typically use a double paceline format, with two rows of riders side-by-side. The paceline rotates in a clockwise manner to evenly distribute the effort. Key points:

  • Rotation: The left line moves up, and the right line rider at the back moves to the left to maintain balance.
  • Communication: Especially important between the two lead riders.
  • Smoothness: Maintain the group's pace and be smooth in transitions.

We're more than happy to guide you through these practices during the ride.
